Do's and Don'ts of Interviewing

Interviewing 101


Before the Interview:

DO:

  • Dress in business attire

  • Research the company

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes early - unless otherwise specified

  • Bring a copy of your resume (Bring extra copies just in case)

  • Prepare a copy of references

  • Bring pen and notebook to take notes during the interview

  • Prepare questions to ask during the interview

  • Greet Everyone in the office/restaurant with a smile and hello

  • Fill out applications neatly and completely

  • Greet the interviewer with a smile and a firm handshake

  • make direct eye contact

  • Have fun!

Don't 

  • Come unprepared


During the Interview

Do:

  • Have a positive attitude - Life is Good!

  • Be confident

  • Represent yourself honestly

  • Maintain direct eye contact

  • Use examples to backup your answers

  • Ask questions about the position, training, company and interviewer

Don't

  • Get too comfortable - Remain professional

  • Use slang words or Curse - Remember stay professional

  • Be negative - stay positive about previous or present employer

  • Lie - Remember with the internet, social media, and other resources if you lie the truth will eventually come out.

After the Interview

Do:

  • Jot down Notes

  • Call Recruiting Plus LLC if you have any questions

  • Follow up with a thank you note via email, fax, and or send a letter within 24 hours
